Brunch Outside Dubai: Cove Rotana (Gourmed Basilico)

Welcome to the mini Greece of the UAE! Having friends who work in the hospitality industry gets me access to visit beautiful places like The Cove Rotana Resort in Ras Al Khaimah. But obviously, you gotta get a glimpse of the place first for you to know what I am talking about so here it is:

Brunch In Dubai: Sean Conolly Jazz Brunch at the Dubai Opera

If you're thwarted by the scarcity of Saturday brunches and haven't tried dining at Sean Conolly at Dubai Opera,  then this place is for you - they have this incredible (and ridiculously fun) Jazz Brunch at the Garden and I encourage you to go.

Brunch Outside Dubai: Fujairah Rotana (Waves Easter Brunch)

easter egg hunting
Fujairah Rotana sure made it fun during their Easter Brunch at Waves Restaurant!
Have you ever had the craving for a different kind of brunch than the usual in Dubai?  That's exactly how I felt when I decided to take this trip to Fujairah Rotana for their Easter Brunch at Waves Restaurant.

The usual brunch set up in DXB can sometimes feel repetitive and uneventful. What better way of making the Easter season extra special than trying out something new along with great people, and so off I went with my blogger friends, we explored another wonder in the UAE - Al Aqah Beach in Fujairah.

As you know, the 8th annual Dubai Marina Street Festival once again kicked off last March 15 and every afternoon until the 24th, there are different performances happening across 9 pitches along the strip of Dubai Marina Walk.

Summer Staycation Series - Burj Al Arab

Hello Earth! How's the summer in Dubai treating you so far? If you will ask mine, I'd honestly tell you I never enjoyed summer in the dessert as much I have enjoyed it this year. Why, you ask? This summer I was able to experience 2 of the most expensive nights in my entire life: I was able to stay and experience the most luxurious hotel in the world - Burj Al Arab hotel in Jumeirah!

Ramadan 2017 - Tried and Tested Iftar Menus That Won't Hurt Your Pocket

It's Ramadan season once again and you know what this means: endless buffet awaits us when the sun goes down (yay for buffet girls and boys!). Last year, I have tried a few restaurants for Iftar and this year, I have experienced dining at new restaurants within hotel facilities where I have gotten a lot of invitations to try what they have been offering in their menu. Lamb Ouzi and Arabic starters are  the buffet staples but this year, I guess I already met the mouttabal that literally took my heart away (sadly, it's not included on this list!).

You will also be surprised to know the buffet menu that I have tried are actually budget friendly, which basically fits what I have been sharing for the longest time.  So get your pen and paper, here's a summary of my tried and tested Iftar menus in Dubai that will not hurt your pocket!

Summer Staycation Series - Danat Jebel Dhanna Resort

Who would've thought that we have this kind of view in the UAE?
Guess who's back online? Yes, it's me! And it's been a while since I have uploaded something interesting here. If you've been following my updates on IG, you will know how much of a busy bee I am on weekdays. I am still exploring a lot of things in aviation (yes, I've shifted industries but doing the same function) and I guess I will enjoy it here.

How To Get (Legally) HIGH - In Dubai!

And just before I get tons of email to take this post down, let me tell you one thing: IT IS NOT WHAT YOU THINK IT IS. First and foremost, Dubai has zero tolerance for illegal drugs - any form of use or distribution of illegal drugs in the UAE is a criminal offense and is punishable by law.

So rather than taking the risk of getting in jail or worst deported, I have listed below my over-the-top (like literally) experiences of how I tasted the Dubai high life without getting caught!

How to Experience the Best of Dubai - On A Budget!

Heritage House - Al Fahidi District Dubai
That's me, going around Dubai on a budget.

Okay so I live here, and for me, a budget experience in Dubai is very different to a tourist’s. Heading to friends for dinner certainly takes the sting out of a pricey restaurant cheque, and taking a long drive with grammer friends – in their cars – into the desert or anywhere off the beaten path is an inexpensive way to relax. But for visitors flying into the city, Dubai can appear very expensive indeed. Fear not, there are tons of ways to make the most out of your trip to this magnificent city without breaking the bank, here are my top tips in experiencing Dubai on a budget!

Fly With The Falcons Of Dubai...On A Hot Air Balloon!

hot air balloon experience in Dubai

Finally gotten over my El Nido, Palawan trip with occasional separation anxiety on my island living in the Philippines because the little miss is an island lady by heart. As soon as I arrived in Dubai last Nov. 28, hustling and grinding continued and you will surely be excited on a few upcoming Dubai posts because the events I went to for the past weeks are waaaay over the top and even ticked of a few of my bucket lists - one of them is riding a hot air balloon.

Behind The Scenes - Instagram's 14th Worldwide Instameet in Dubai

Dubai instagrammers

My nth Instameet this year. Since I have missed #WWIM13 , I made sure I reserved the whole weekend to meet and interact with the community. We were up as early as six in the morning of the 17th, ready and all geared up so we can take as much creative photos as we can.

Eid Al Adha Mubarak everyone! A few weeks back, I have listed a few short trip ideas from Dubai for the long weekend. As flights got a little bit pricey 4 weeks before the holiday, my roomies and I decided to 'stay-cation' instead. I have much to explore in the UAE anyways so I think now is the best time to do a little exploring.

Last Exit Dubai Preview

The new food truck park in the UAE is now on full swing! I've been itching to go here because it's the kind of hangout place I'd like to be. The name's Last Exit by the way mainly because it lies between the boundary of Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Short Trips for Eid Break: Holiday Ideas For Dubai Residents

The month of September is fast approaching and I can’t get any excited myself! Why? There’s gonna be long weekend starting Sept. 9, hooray! While many have already planned their holidays ahead, here I am doing a last minute search for get-aways within my 1000 km radius. It will only be a few days after all so there really isn’t a need to spend a lot to enjoy a short holiday.

I have always been a budgetarian and I travel cheap all the time so here are some holiday ideas that I’d like to share with you.

If you are already tight on schedule for a 4-day short trip, book a flight to Qatar and take a tour of Doha

photo of dhow cruise ships in Doha

Qatar is one of the closest countries near the UAE where you can easily book a return flight on Emirates Airlines or Saudi Airlines for as little as AED 700. I’ve been here last year and I pretty much liked the neighbourhood near the corniche and marina area. Aside from historical sites, there are places that you can see in Doha like Souq Waqif, the Museum of Islamic Art, Corniche, Kingdom of Aladdin amusement park, The Pearl, Al Bidda Park, and many others.

Finding The Best Eggs (For Breakfast) That Will Never Break Your Heart

photo of La Serre boulangerie

I confess: aside from my thing for walls, doors, windows and food, I have a thing for eggs. Not the kind of egg that breaks your heart into pieces but eggs that actually make somebody else's morning - the breakfast eggs.

And Downtown Dubai is a great spot for an early egg hunting.  Come search for best breakfasts in Dubai and you will easily come across several restaurants located at the Centre of Now. This means, a handful of eggs, of different recipes and flavours, from different countries, is waiting to be discovered.

Along with a few blogger friends (Lady, Doc Gelo, Myla, and Kriska), we crawled the stretch of Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard to search for the best breakfast eggs being offered in Downtown Dubai. What we found is more than just a plate.

Calligraphy & Brush Lettering Materials In And Out Of Dubai

Many of my readers have been asking for more posts about my calligraphy and brush lettering stash - a hobby that I do on weekends or whenever creativity knocks on my door. You might have seen my post last year but just to follow up as I have already collected items, I found a few cheaper options (yet again) where you can buy stuffs for word art in and out of Dubai.

Iftar At Lemon Pepper Radisson Blu Downtown

Iftar budget options

Just one more week before the Eid Holidays here in Dubai and I'm still getting invites for Iftar. It seems like I haven't really left the travel and tourism industry after all, the only difference is that I get these invites for the love of something - food and blogging.

Trying Out Iraqi Cuisines At Kabab Erbil Al Rigga

Food selection at Kabab Erbil

You know what I like about Dubai? You get to explore options for food and trying out cuisines from other parts of the world is one of my game. Good thing I'm surrounded with friends who also fancy dining out and hunting hole-in-the-wall restaurants, we found ourselves lost in the streets of Al Rigga.

Ramadan 2016 - Must Visit Restaurants For Iftar

Iftar 2016

Ramadan Kareem everyone! It's the Holy Month of Ramadan, a month to reflect and pay respect to our Muslim brothers and sisters' religion. Most residents and locals observe this through fasting on certain times of the day and when the sun goes down, we gather together as a family over food which they call Iftar.  For almost 3 years of living in Dubai, I've tried the best Iftar menus there are in this city and I'm sharing you the ones I loved and tested for 2016.

March 16, 2016 7am. The whole city of Dubai is just about to get ready for another busy day and we, the Instagrammers, are already out wandering at Souq Madinat Jumeirah in one of leading international art fairs in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia - Art Dubai 2016.
