Ramadan 2017 - Tried and Tested Iftar Menus That Won't Hurt Your Pocket

It's Ramadan season once again and you know what this means: endless buffet awaits us when the sun goes down (yay for buffet girls and boys!). Last year, I have tried a few restaurants for Iftar and this year, I have experienced dining at new restaurants within hotel facilities where I have gotten a lot of invitations to try what they have been offering in their menu. Lamb Ouzi and Arabic starters are  the buffet staples but this year, I guess I already met the mouttabal that literally took my heart away (sadly, it's not included on this list!).

You will also be surprised to know the buffet menu that I have tried are actually budget friendly, which basically fits what I have been sharing for the longest time.  So get your pen and paper, here's a summary of my tried and tested Iftar menus in Dubai that will not hurt your pocket!

Kris With A View - Arabic and Pan Asian Cuisine

Price Range: AED 130 per person

Location: Park Regis Kris Krin Hotel Dubai (near ADCB Metro Station)

Contact Details: kris@parkregisdubai.com

What I Love: The breath taking panoramic view of Downtown Dubai at the top most floor of the hotel and their pan-asian cuisine. I personally like their Pad Thai and the Arabic okra dish that goes well with their mixed grills.

Steal a deal: I saw a posted deal on Cobone which will cost you AED 79, you can view it here. This is valid  for a certain period only during Ramadan 2017.

Liwan Restaurant - Exquisite Traditional Arabic Cuisine

Price Range: AED 139 per person for Liwan  - book here.

Location: Al Ghurair Rayhaan by Rotana (near Union Metro Station, near Deira's Fish roundabout)

Contact Details: +971 (0)4 293 3000 or  fb.alghurair@rotana.com / events.alghurair@rotana.com

What I Love: Their Arabic Indulgence section is always my go-to every year. This is my third year having Iftar with them and I never missed their starters. Their mouttabal is never to be missed, lamb ouzi had always been the star of their buffet section. This year they served more Arabic dishes and lesser Asian cuisine however there are still a few seafood on the menu.

Steal a deal: They also have hidden deals on their website, grab a discount voucher here and pay only AED 89 for a grand buffet at Liwan.

Entre-Nous - Traditional Ramadan Dishes and International Specialties

Price Range: AED129 per person  - book here.

Location: Entre Nous Restaurant at Novotel World Trade Center (nearest Metro Station access is World Trade Center)

Contact Details: +971 4 332 0000 or email H5261-FB1@accor.com

What I Love: The wide selection of starters and cold cuts and very pleasing to the eyes, their buffet table was nicely set up. Amongst all restaurants I went to this Ramadan season, they serve the second best mouttabal in town (no kidding!). Their lamb ouzi is a must try, although I only had a few bites because it is so heavy. The sweets are not to be missed as well. They have several table setup for small and big groups too.

Steal a deal: They are currently running a promotion over at Cobone, spend for only AED99 for 1 person or AED 197 for 2 persons inclusive of drinks.

Olive Oil Restaurant - Sumptous Arabic Iftar Buffet

Price Range: AED129 per person.

Location: Olive Oil Restaurant at Jumeirah Rotana (along Diyafah street, near Satwa)

What I Love: The menu at Olive Oil is changing daily - they serve a mix of both traditional and international favourites. Similar to Liwan, the cold cuts and starters are great. They have a selection of Arabic drinks (cold and hot coffee), oriental mezzas, selection of cheese, main dish and desserts. Of those I have tried, I will say their umm ali is way better than the rest of the restaurants I have tried this year.

Steal a deal: You can get 50% discount offer if you present the voucher on their website, check out the terms and conditions here.
