Safari Lovin'

Dubai Desert Safari Experience

Ohai from Dubai!

I found a USB stick that I haven't opened for months and saw a few photos from my travel agency life. If you've been following my posts about my life in the Middle East and Dubai, I used to work in a travel agency and just recently, I moved back to digital marketing. Geez, I didn't realize have so many backlogs, sorry!

One of the things I would probably miss in the travel industry is going places and experiencing activities. Travel agents get activities and tours for free (we need to experience the service so we know how to sell it). I have tried desert safari.

Back when travel and tourism was new to me, I have often asked myself if it is really better to book with a travel agent if you want to go on a tour when you can do it yourself. I mean, Google is a reliable source of information to get the details you need, but why ask for a travel agent's help?

Here's a little secret I'd like to share: travel agents are actually cheaper. And since most travel agents have tried the service themselves, they know what they are talking about.

In Dubai, there are several tour providers for desert safari and rumor has it, Royal Adventure is on the top list that provides good service (pick-up is on time with good decent food). I tried with another one but meh, *ktnxbye* on food selection.

So if you'll be visiting Dubai and is opting for a desert safari adventure, here are a few things from my experience that might be of help:

  • If you will book for a regular desert safari, you'll be joining other guests of different nationalities UNLESS you booked for an exclusive one. The vehicle can accommodate up to 6 people (plus the tour guide).
  • The desert sands are very fine it can easily get in your shoes. If you don't want that icky feeling, I suggest wear slipper sandals (I was wearing a pair of sneakers, fail).
  • Most desert safari tour providers have drinking water in the vehicle. But sometimes, they come in strange containers. If you're not comfy drinking it, bring your own bottle.
  • The safari ride is like a roller coaster ride. Bring a tablet or two of medicine in case you get a headache - a preventive measure for massive vomiting. Mwuahaha.
  • Riding a camel for the first time? Hold on tight to the handle, you'll be fine.
  • Try the sweet dessert when you enter the camp, it tastes really nice.
  • Have as much fun as you can with henna tattoo and sisha.
Here are the rest of the photos, enjoy!
