Hello! Just a quick post to say hi. This a long over due post from a day trip we had last November with my ever reliable thrift travel buddy Jason The Roomie. We sort of like going places by public transport when in UAE so we took a quick day trip to Abu Dhabi.
I won't be giving too much details as this trip was rather random and unplanned but three helpful tips if you want to take Abu Dhabi by public transport:
- There's a bus station going to Abu Dhabi at IBN Batuta Mall. There are 2 other stations ib Dubai where you can get a bus to AUH. You can either buy a ticket for AED 25 per person per way at the ticket booth or top up your Nol card prior to getting on the bus. Load at least AED 75 to make sure you can get back (that is if you still want to use your Nol Card going back to Dubai.)
- Tap ONLY ONCE when you get on the bus. Otherwise, you'll be charged twice (byebye AED 25). It doesn't work like the Metro where you have to tap out.
- Prepare coins. Lots of them. Buses in Abu Dhabi charge AED 2 anywhere you go so make sure you have lots of coins in your purse.
PS: I enjoyed Heritage Village the most. There are a few interesting things about UAE's culture that captured my interest and it's quite obsessing. I'd like to go and visit all Emirates to feel how it's like to be in one place to another.
